How life could be lighter?

We tend to carry heavier burdens than we need and make things harder than they need to be, but it is hard to see these patterns alone.

You are certainly carrying a heavier burden if you do any of these:

  • Put high expectations on yourself and others constantly (aka perfectionism),
  • Frequently is an over-giver or people-pleaser,
  • Accept unnecessary responsibilities repeatedly (aka can’t say no),
  • Feel guilt and regret – especially if you choose to not do one of the above.

When I work with clients, some of these patterns show up as obstacles that hold them back from the goal they are pursuing, and from having a more enjoyable journey.

As we work together, their awareness of the patterns increases, and it helps them make different choices. These changes help them move towards their goals with more lightness and flow and less guilt.

More than supporting my clients towards their goals, I teach them to navigate their journey more lightly. Not only in regards to a specific goal but also how they can apply their insight to improve other aspects of their lives. 

For example, Sandy from Australia, who was transitioning between careers, reported that

My clients are accomplished people who tend to be very hard on themselves. After all, that is how they have accomplished so much! Yet, many of the qualities that helped them before, at some point, became hurtful to their health and relationships. But, they could not see it until we worked together, or they did not know how to change it alone.

Seeing these hurtful patterns and supporting the change is part of my work. I help clients see how well they have done and how well they can continue to do, but in a lighter way.
