Is your inner child in the closet?

Is your inner child in the closet?

Have you been feeling too busy, anxious, sad, irritable or frustrated lately?

As adults, we can easily get lost in our duties and responsibilities in our busy lives. We can be in the automatic pilot for too long that we forget to enjoy the little things and have fun.

We may believe that play and fun are a waste of time or a distraction from our goals. But, actually, they are our fuel to keep pursuing what is truly worthy. They keep us connected with ourselves and a sense of wellbeing and meaning.

When we are in our automatic pilot, we lack presence in our lives and relationships, and we create pain by being

  • Disconnected from ourselves,
  • Disconnected from our loved ones and
  • Disconnected from what brings us joy,

This disconnection is s recipe for:

  • Increased stress,
  • Decreased physical and mental health, and
  • Difficulties in our relationships.

If you have been too busy, anxious, sad, irritable or frustrated, and if you want to change it, take your inner child out to play! Really!

What did you enjoy as a child?

Did you like drawing, making a collage, building legos, or doing puzzles?

Did you enjoy a particular band, music, movie, or artist?

Did you feel happy dancing, playing a sport or getting lost reading a book?

Pick a different small thing every day and do it- with presence! Size the moment with satisfaction.

Reconnect with that joy you had as a child. Feel it in your body and your heart.

Where and where your inner child is the happiest?

Cultivate moments like this more often and see your life and relationships change for the better.

Joy can be good medicine for different body and soul pain.

Take doses of it daily!
